Describe your website.
My Gamelan Bali website gives downloadable pdf's of scores (notations) of Balinese gamelan music. These are published under a Creative Commons license and may be used by anyone interested. There is an explanation of the instruments used in a gamelan orchestra, their function and the way of playing. Also, you will find information about the pitch and tuning of the Balinese gamelan and the way this differs from Western music.
Who is the target audience for your website?
The site is aimed primarily at people that play, or want to play, gamelan music from Bali themselves. However, there is enough information to interest people with a more superficial interest in Balinese music.
What is the advantage of your website over others?
This is one of the very few sites that offer music notations of Balinese gamelan melodies.
Why did you use this Sandvox design?
The layout of the Imagine design was best suited to my subject. I felt the colour scheme fitted a "tropical" subject, although I had to change the banner photo.
What techniques did you use to build this website?
I wanted to make it clear that the whole site is published under a Creative Commons license. This was best done with a richt text pagelet. On the pagelet I put a short text about the license and the logo of this license. Clicking on the logo links to the official license text on the Creativ Commons site.
