Describe your website.
My website is a portfolio of photos and renderings of my production design, set design, and art direction for live events and studio sets in television and for set design in theatre. It includes many designs for Univision Network, including the FIFA World Cup, Sabado Gigante, and Premio lo Nuestro. There is also a bio that summarizes my major achievements and experience.
Who is the target audience for your website?
My target audience is producers in the television industry looking for a experienced production designer and set designer, other designers or design companies looking for assistance in rendering, drafting and project management, and theatre artistic directors looking for scenic and lighting design. I work all over the country and the world, but am based in the NYC area.
What is the advantage of your website over others?
The work in my website portfolio shows the experience and versatility to handle projects ranging from arena-filling shows to finely-detailed studio sets. It shows a familiarity with all the current video and LED lighting technology. The work ranges from abstract design to highly realistic theatrical design. The photo-realistic renderings on the site are an example of the precise pre-visualization tools that will be available to prospective clients.
Why did you use this Sandvox design?
I chose the "Smooth Dark" template because of its simple design and functionality. Theatrical and television design portfolios are usually set against a dark background so the photos "pop". This mimics the way we see television and theatre.
What techniques did you use to build this website?
I used the program in its simplest form. The only thing I did that was at all unusual was to nest my television galleries so the main gallery page linked to individual pages for each show which have a large image of that show along with thumbnails of additional images. Site visitors have an option of looking at a lot of shows quickly, or exploring shows in more depth by opening the nested gallery. This also allowed me to make these images larger, which was necessary to show the detail in a set that could measure over 100' across.
In the theatre galleries, I used a more traditional structure of multiple pictures on each page. This has the purpose of distinguishing this section, which will largely be viewed by different people.
