Describe your website.

We, students of Japanese literature, created the play "Kampf um Kyoto" based on the classical Japanese Hogen and Heike monogatari. After a few public performances we had enough photos to build a website to show the development from a very humble beginning to a performance in a real majestic theatre.

Who is the target audience for your website?

Everyone who is interested in classical Japanese literature, especially the Hogen and Heike monogatari and the lifes of Sutoku Tenno and Taira no Kiyomori. Students and teachers, thinking about how to get their Japanese language lessons more exciting by getting out of the classroom and perform a play.

Tell us a story about this website.

At the very beginning we had a website on MobileMe with Apple's iWeb - after the end of this service we built a new one with Sandvox and this was a real improvement.

Why did you use this Sandvox design?

The burned old paper fits perfectly to the background of these classical Japanese war tales from medieval times concerning a fight for the power in old Kyoto. It shows an impression of the impermanence of all things, which could be called one of the main statements in Hogen and Heike monogatari.
