Describe your website.

More Means Insight includes relections from my past work in advising and contracting about our international peace, weapons control, unbounded megalomania, and unsettling events. Art is Music from the People reviews the growth of R&B and Rock n Roll in particular in Seattle, New England and Germany, the overlapping of Jimmy Hendrix, Stephen Stills, and the Beatles with those of us who listened well and still sing along.

Who is the target audience for your website?

Friends and fellow citizens who wish to influence a happier, more peaceful world; a world where music continues and weapons go away.

What is the advantage of your website over others?

The competitors are nations and their leaders, those who would control by force. Their websites seek money and allegiance. This web site supports the common folk, respects their intelligence and good will, and praises and thanks the musicians who do this best. Thanks Jimmy Hendrix, Stephen Stills, and so many others.

Tell us a story about this website.

I wrote up the More Means Insight pages when US President Obama threatened to invade/punish Syria for chemical weapons having been used during skirmishes there which persist in their Civil War. I pushed the site into the awareness of colleagues in DC, Moscow, the nations in our Virtual Silk Highway Project which exist in ongoing stress between Russia and Israel/US military encampments. Within a few days US and Russian policy shifted and even Syria openly joined into the world dialog. Every little bit helps.

Why did you use this Sandvox design?

Individual comments, like live music, have sandy foundations. Messages are just pinned to sand as the Sandvox design portrays. Thoughts are not linear, they are not time bound, so the poetry of the title page has gaps and creative spacing. Having a contact form encourages interaction.

What techniques did you use to build this website?

I encouraged free form exploration by numbering the menu items in Art is Music from the People differently than numerical order.

The whole stanfieldmeans.com site is an autobiography and exploration of personal and family values and entertainments. I embedded a nice link to streaming music to go along in a separate page to the displayed lyrics. The visitor can then hear and sing Louie Louie. There is a similar respect paid to Ron Holden in his 1959 I love You So, which can play while a visitor reads about the venue BirdLAND where Holden's band played.

This website was created by Steven S. Means of Coos County, Oregon, USA. He has also built New at the Museum for Myrtle Point, Oregon's Coos County Fairgrounds Museum using Sandvox.
