Describe your website.
This website was created to provide guardian/family resources for our membership and to educate the public regarding Murray Developmental Center, Centralia IL. We want others to understand the value of this vital Center as well as the specialized needs of our severely intellectually disabled loved ones. We are including photos, as well as media reports. Updates are provided regarding our federal lawsuit.
Who is the target audience for your website?
This website is a resource for those interested in intellectually disabilities. Although we are focused on saving Murray Center in Centralia, Illinois we are also including many relevant articles regarding the trend of deinstitutionalization nationwide. Links and articles include information on other lawsuits and closures, as well as protection issues such as abuse and neglect.
Why did you use this Sandvox design?
The design I chose, Serengeti, allows for a panoramic picture at the top. The header allows me to include our name, as well as our purpose in an attractive format. The menu is attractive and allows for 2 rows without looking crowded.
What techniques did you use to build this website?
I used code generated by PayPal to create my own custom buttons. I modified and pasted the code into a raw HTML object using Karelia and PayPal support information. I also added a Twitter feed. As a resource website, I have added over 900 links to media articles and websites. I use Integrity to quickly search my website to find expired links.
