Sandvox Website Profile: “Mawson Bear”

snapshot of home page

Sandvox was the choice for Mark O'Dwyer to build his website for Baffled Bear Books. He chose the “Stars Green” design for the site. People may want to visit the site if they are looking for teddy bear wisdom about baffling things.

Describe your website.

Mawson Bear, formerly a Bear About Town, now a Ponder-er of Baffling Things, writes down his Ponders. He puts them in books that are full of colourful, furry pictures made by his friends. They show what his ponders would look like - if you could see a ponder. The ponders are for everyone who would like to feel grand again and Not So Baffled. The web den is to help visitor to find his books and hopefully to buy them.

Who is the target audience for your website?

If you are a grownup aged 108 years or under, If you sometimes feel completely baffled by it all, if you often feel a little bit lost, if you'd like to pawse a while in a safe place where it is all right to Be Baffled, if you'd like to feel grand again, if you like teddy bears, if you are a bear, then Mawson's web den for baffled ones is a good place to be.

What is the advantage of your website over others?

Only at Baffled Bear Books can you find a Web Den and a Blob that don't try to give you any answers at all but where, instead, being baffled, muddled, puzzled and confused is the right way for you to be.

Tell us a story about this website.

Its not easy to make a web site when you're feeling in a bit of a bother about a lot of other things going on at the same time. After looking at 3 competitors (that I won't name except to say that the words word and press and micro were involved) .. that kept sending a lot of Even More Confusing Emails, I found Sandvox. It was like an island of peace. I could just get on with making a nice web site. The Sandvoxians even helped me.

Why did you use this Sandvox design?

The design "Outside the Lines- Telegraph Office Fir" looks cheerful and colourful while allowing a lot of other colour options with fonts and pictures. The slightly messy look suggests big but clumsy paws doing their best.

What techniques did you use to build this website?

I particularly like the Callouts which allow a neat presentation of pictures with the option of descriptive text.
