Describe your website.
The website presents new concert music composed by Dan Lazarescou. The goal of the website is to allow music professionals to learn about new pieces of music, such as "Two Maria concerto for violin and orchestra" or "The Midnight Waltz for symphonic orchestra" and to invite performers and conductors to perform the music in live concerts, recitals, or studio recording. In addition to symphonic music, the website presents Dan Lazarescou's chamber music, such as "Blackbird on Edge for mixed chamber ensemble," "Cosmopolitan for string quartet," or jazzy pieces like "L's Tango for saxophone and piano," or "Ninth Flashbacks," and "Two Songs on Poems by Lewis Carroll for voice and piano."
Who is the target audience for your website?
The audience of the website includes music professionals, musicians, performers, conductors, and new music fans in general.
What is the advantage of your website over others?
The website presents in a concise way new music works including program notes where appropriate. In this way the visitor can listen to a new piece while learning about the story behind its inception.
Why did you use this Sandvox design?
I chose the smooth dark design because it provides a neutral environment to listen to music and also allows for an optimal presentation of images associated with the program notes about the music.
What techniques did you use to build this website?
In order to avoid different audio player sizes supported in different ways by various browsers, I placed the audio samples in the side bar of a page. In this way it does not seem to matter if the audio player is QuickTime or a backup Flash player.
