What kind of websites were you planning to build?
My first site is a "conscience" site about sustainability issues in my state. I have a number of other sites planned, but my main site for now is about creating a work-at-home business using the creative self, and the skills and knowledge that people already have. Info-products are at the centre of the business model.
My focus group are those who wish to break away from their current stressed situations, seniors and retirees, and anyone wanting to create additional income through an online business.
How did you hear about Sandvox?
I searched online for a mac app that equalled or surpassed the capabilities presented by other web design platforms. It had to be simple to use, yet sufficiently powerful to portray all that I wanted in a good website.
What made you decide to get Sandvox?
After scouring a number of forums and sites comparing several web design mac apps, I made a considered decision to run with Sandvox based on the experiences of others.
It was a close run at the start in making the decision, but I have no regrets now.
Four important criteria to me are - wysiwyg, the ability to edit offline, a Blog platform, and the capacity to add many of present-day features such as video, into the site.
Now that you have Sandvox, what do you like about it?
Sandvox has its quirks, and it took me a little while to adjust to those. But now I'm very comfortable with them. Adding things like an autoresponder option form, sales page, thank you page, squeeze page, subscriber page - all things that are easily included in say a Wordpress site - took some lateral thinking to work out. There is little in the Help Index or on the Forum on these matters. Adding HTML or Javascript proved to be a challenge - see my optin form at the website as an example. Strange stuff happened along the way in inserting the code, and when I thought that it hadn't been inserted properly, it was.
Creating different types of pages (e.g. minisites) is another small challenge.
But, I stuck with Sandvox determined to make it work for me. I don't particularly like the convoluted Wordpress system, although many might disagree with me. I've compared Sandvox with XSitePro, and I have to say that Sandvox is a bit simpler, although lacking several features such as integration with info-product marketplaces (e.g. Clickbank).
One of the best end features of Sandvox is ""Publishing"" the site. It is so simple, and a big relief in not having to FTP.
I would like to see more designs available, and that could happen in time.
Overall, for me Sandvox is a good app, and having created an info-product site I'll be able to judge the success in about 6-12 months from now.
