Describe your website.

Our website gives more detailed information about the Forest Bakehouse. Our community supported bakery will soon open in the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire in the UK. We are going to share our passion for real bread and artisan baking via the website with potential customers and supporters, who can also subscribe to our services via the contact us page. Our bakehouse team is also demonstrating our commitment to the real bread campaign and we are introducing what real bread is about. And our news blog will help to keep our customers and supporters informed about new developments. We are using our skills and understanding of the traditional long fermentation process to strive for products with outstanding quality.

Who is the target audience for your website?

Our target audience is mainly potential local customers and businesses, who are seeking to buy the real bread products we are planning to make and produce once the Forest Bakehouse opens its doors. Our customers and businesses would live in Gloucestershire in the United Kingdom, and more to the point in the Forest of Dean, or might be travelling to work into the area, or are situated at the borders of the Forest of Dean not far from where we are located.
Our customers come from a wide range of age groups and what unites them is their interest in being able to access bread, which is made without any of the many additives found elsewhere. They are happy to pay more for better quality bread and baked goods, because they know that this is more beneficial for their health since real bread products are of higher nutritional value and more easily digested than most factory made products.

What is the advantage of your website over others?

Our website demonstrates and explains the way we make our products and what is important to us as a bakery business. Customers and supporters also have the opportunity to become involved in our project as we are not only a co-operative business, but we are seeking to gather support from the local community, not only in buying our products, but also through taking out micro investments or subscriptions. At present there is no local bakery that is committed to supplying what is called real bread, which is additive and enzyme free and essentially an artisan product made in the traditional time honoured way. Our website will be supporting the Real Bread Campaign and will list relevant links and references to anything to do with real bread, which might be of interest to site visitors or customers.

Why did you use this Sandvox design?

The design we have chosen is a very clean and simple design, uncluttered. Originally, it worked very well with the many pictures we had integrated into the website, but have now been taken down. Sandvox gives us also the option to purchase any third party designs, which might be suitable for us in future.

What techniques did you use to build this website?

I have made use of the blog pages in order to post updates relating to the progress our project is making.

This website was created by Peter Kramer. He has also built Mindful Hands using Sandvox.
