Describe your website.

Winnowing Fan is designed to carry my explorations, reflections and responses to ideas about public diplomacy, foreign policy and international relations. It archives my published work and presentations, links to my course offerings at Eckerd College and houses my blog.

Who is the target audience for your website?

I write for the community of scholars, practitioners and students of public diplomacy specifically and statecraft more broadly. I offer my own current thinking on foreign policy issues, review pertinent books and link to the worthwhile work being done by others in our field. I use the space to bounce my ideas off others in the community.

What is the advantage of your website over others?

There are only a handful of websites focused on public diplomacy. Mine carries a quite personal voice and seeks to span the boundary between practitioners of statecraft and scholars of the art. I often use gardening as a metaphor because it is a passion in my life.

Tell us a story about this website.

My post on "Deadheading" made me realize for the first time that I had some readers! It was great to hear from old friends and colleagues who welcomed my perspective.

Why did you use this Sandvox design?

I liked the integration of social media and other media elements. My goal is to have an aesthetically pleasing as well as intellectually stimulating site.

What techniques did you use to build this website?

Sorry, I am not clever.
