Sandvox Website Profile: “Repast Baroque Ensemble”

My website provides information about my baroque music trio, Repast, including our 2011-2012 season of concerts, descriptions of our programs, and biographies and photos of ourselves and our guest artists. It also provides contact information for our booking agent and for supporting our baroque music projects.

Our target audience are classical music and baroque music lovers, fans of Bach, people interested in the 17th and 18th centuries, music students, people in New York City interested in chamber music, and people living close to the Murray Hill area of Manhattan who would like to hear intimate live music performances.

Repast's website offers video of the ensemble performing in three different venues, so it offers concert presenters a sense of how the ensemble communicates with an audience onstage. We have more programs available for touring than other comparable groups in New York City, and have more flexibility in the number of guest artists we include for various programs.

I was drawn to the Cathedral template at first because the image was taken from architecture which is similar to the period of our music. I chose to replace the particular image with a custom image of a baroque still life painting with musical instruments and food, because my ensemble's name, "Repast" is a play on words: Repast means feast or meal, but what we do is re-interpret and re-create the music of the past, so I wanted an image that was more specific to our identity. The template has a very clean, timeless look, which appealed to me because we feel that our music is very present even though it was written about 300 years ago, and we love communicating the relevance of this music to our audience.
