Describe your website.
Hole By Hole features hundreds of golf book reviews, along with hundreds of weekly golf columns published in The Cape Gazette since December 1998. It also offers a handicap stroke allocation service for golf courses.
Who is the target audience for your website?
The Hole By Hole handicap stroke allocation service is sought by golf pros and private golf clubs. The Hole By Hole golf book reviews and golf columns are intended for a broader golfing audience.
What is the advantage of your website over others?
I am the only regular golf columnist in Southern Delaware, and my weekly column, appearing at Hole By Hole and The Cape Gazette, fills a niche not available elsewhere. The golf book review section, with Amazon links for purchase, is also notable for its extensive collection of golf books of all kinds.
Tell us a story about this website.
The Sandvox version of Hole By Hole is brand new, but the Hole By Hole website has been up and running since 1997. We just have to wait and see how the thousands of web visitors will react to the new design.
Why did you use this Sandvox design?
I was looking for a really simple template, that would not conflict in any significant way with an equally simple design template I had been using since 1998. The background color is different, but the common elements of the HBH logo, serif and sans serif fonts, and fairly uniform column width design should help the site remain familiar to its thousands of visitors, with perhaps an appreciation for the new look that Sandvox provided with its template design.
What techniques did you use to build this website?
The photo pagelet was an easy fix to the problem of integrating the Hole By Hole logo into a template that had no obvious location for it.
I also liked how easy it was to integrate links to the pre-existing site's static pages.
