Describe your website.
This website promotes a movie I wrote and directed. The story is about two dads raising a kid in Tennessee. The biological father dies and the kid is taken away from the other dad. Even though the law is not on his side, he searches for a way back into his son's life. I want the website to let people know about upcoming screenings, show them images from the movie, take them to our IMDB and Facebook pages, and let them sign up for our mailing list or contact us if they'd like.
Who is the target audience for your website?
The target audience for the website is the target audience for our movie: anyone interested in a complex, honest and moving film about family. I happen to believe this is most people, and I also believe that they will appreciate a movie that doesn't treat them like children.
What is the advantage of your website over others?
I don't think many people are interested in making films like this anymore, but I am not ready to see them disappear. We are unlike any other movie out there, and I think the world will be better for having the choice of an alternative.
Why did you use this Sandvox design?
Clean Sheets. With the menu on the right, I love how well featured the content is on the left. There's no clutter, and the dividing line between content and menu is very nice and subtle. The white allows the poster and photo images to really stand out.
What techniques did you use to build this website?
Our film looks very different than most modern films in that it is low contrast, low saturation. When designing on white, taking out some of the color from the text on the website went a long way towards creating a consistent feel across everything.
