Describe your website.

The website is designed to inform and interest people in the Oglala Lakota, Yankton Dakota, and Moccasins on the Ground Training regarding environmental protection of Mother Earth and Sacred Water, as well as our work in Stopping the Keystone XL Pipeline using a message from Debra White Plume and a personal comment on leadership by Kent Lebsock. We are also hoping to collect donations for our work on Lakota, human rights and Indigenous peoples at the United Nations.

Who is the target audience for your website?

We are looking to connect with other individuals and organizations interested in environmental protection, international human rights for Native Americans and Indigenous peoples worldwide, activists for social justice and others working in the field of preserving the ground and surface water threatened by extractive industries.

What is the advantage of your website over others?

We work with, not against, other individuals and organizations in telling the truth about the devastation certain practices have or will cause to the environment which we are attempting to preserve for future generations. Our competitor would be multi-national corporations that manipulate the public in order to violate international human rights and the preservation of our environment.

Tell us a story about this website.

After iWeb went away and ate our previous website, the leaders of our organization told me to get it back up in one day. I had no software and did not know how to accomplish that task so quickly. Fortunately, with forethought, I had already visited the Apple Store and they had suggested I use Sandovox or one other program. Once I uploaded the software, I had a page up in a little over an hour.

Why did you use this Sandvox design?

I was looking for something simple and easy to manipulate with text and colors. I prefer sidebars to menu bars at the top of the page because I think those distract from the content.

What techniques did you use to build this website?

I'm a novice. I'm afraid all my techniques are fairly basic.
