Describe your website.

Wingmaker Arts Collaborative is a website that supports the work of a group of emerging artist in the Charlotte, NC area. We offer art and literary workshops, literary readings, and there are four working artist studios in the space. We are a collaborative where each writer or artist comes to the table with their own projects and goals and we work in support of one another, as well as, doing some events as a collaborative to spread our work into the larger public.

Two of the artists in the group have recently been selected to participate in the CSA (Community Supported Arts) Program that is in its initial year in Charlotte.

The website has gallery images of the artists and biographies of the participants.

WE ARE GROWING!

Who is the target audience for your website?

Our target artist is the individual that wants to unleash their creativity in a safe and supportive environment. We are determined to build support in the community for our work and creative work in general.

We work with adults and in the summer on a limited basis with young adults in workshops. We have ceramic artists, painters, mixed media artists, writers, collage artists, and work that increase awareness of and trust in personal intuition.

What is the advantage of your website over others?

Our website is very user friendly, straightforward and easy to navigate. It is simple and elegant. Just what we want.

Tell us a story about this website.

Our collaborative is in its third year. About six-months into our existence one of the other artists told me I could build a website. I said "I think not", but I did. I'm still learning, but Sandvox let me jump right in and do what I needed. It may not be the most sophisticated site on the Internet, but we love it!

Why did you use this Sandvox design?

I chose the particular design we are using, because we wanted something simple to provide a background to showcase our artwork that does not 'fight' with the images we are posting.

What techniques did you use to build this website?

I am still in the beginning phase of my work with Sandvox and look forward to adding more and more elements to the site. We have been up on Sandvox for about three months.
