Describe your website.

This is the world's only virtual online museum of appendicitis and the human vermiform appendix. Exhibit halls include: History of Appendicitis, Diagnosis of appendicitis, how to perform an appendectomy, the appendicitis of King Edward VII, Sir Frederick Treves, and Reginald Fits. The site also includes video clips of actual appendectomy surgery performed by the author.

Who is the target audience for your website?

This website is targeted to anyone who has had appendicitis, who is worried that they might have appendicitis, or who is interested in medical or surgical history.

What is the advantage of your website over others?

This is the world's only virtual, online museum of the appendix. There is a lot of information on the web about the appendix, but nowhere is it all pulled together into one comprehensive site that includes history, diagnostic aids, and tutorials on surgical outcomes.

Tell us a story about this website.

In researching this website I discovered the story of a Russian surgeon who removed his own appendix in antarctica. The story includes a wonderfully graphic picture of the surgeon operating on himself.

Why did you use this Sandvox design?

It enabled more flexibility in terms of design between the pages of the site.
