Describe your website.

TetushkinEnglish means Aunty's English. It teaches English to Russian speakers but is, more importantly, designed to build friendship and understanding in our world. It includes American stories, poems, games, and secrets. It makes learning English as natural as a child learns his own language.

Who is the target audience for your website?

The target audience is children and adults learning English whose native language is Russian.

What is the advantage of your website over others?

It's totally fresh! It breaks through the boredom and dullness of most language programs. The site (according to our visitors) is visually enjoyable, easy to navigate, and a rich experience in learning.

Tell us a story about this website.

One young girl wrote to say, "My mom, who doesn't understand English, tries to play on your site. I think people who don't know English can even learn sometimes." We smiled, because the young girl (who is herself learning English), innocently made it sound as if people who don't know English can perhaps learn something sometimes!

Why did you use this Sandvox design?

I needed a design that was playful looking. Our whole intent was to make learning English playful, natural, and truly enjoyable.

What techniques did you use to build this website?

To make the text layouts more interesting I often use the "quote" text boxes. Also, if I want more space between photos (or text) in the callout bar, I simply type in text and then turn it to white to make it invisible. The result is more "breathing room" between objects.
